Joey Parkin
After studying for 4 years in graphic design and visual communications to degree level, Joey worked as a studio artist and creative designer in various agencies. Essential experience was gained with design principles whilst allowing the natural development of skills and personal style.
Joey Parkin later discovered a love of large scale colour and texture through her early hand painted sign design and illustrator commissions. She has taught art and creative design through the W.E.A for schools, art clubs and collages. This has given her a great insight into art as therapy. Art as a great learning tool and an innate skill we all have, often hidden by conformity or self doubt.
her favourite artists are “my children, other children, Francis Bacon, Rothko, Pollock”… They all dare to be themselves and are not stifled by fashion or politics.
